In pastures, it often affects livestock, causing dermatitis and anemia due to the bites and blood-sucking, and piroplasmosis is transmitted to cattle by the tick Haemaphysalis longicornis . Tularemia is also transmitted to rabbits, dogs, and humans by the tick H. flava or tick Ixodes ovatus (illustration).
