Daichidoron - Daichidoron

Japanese: 大智度論 - だいちどろん
Daichidoron - Daichidoron

A Buddhist book consisting of 100 volumes. It is also abbreviated as "Zhedodo-ron" or "Dairon". It is said to have been written by Nagarjuna and translated into Chinese by Kumarajiva. There are different opinions about the author, but it is believed to have been significantly revised when translated into Chinese. Detailed annotations are added to every word of the "Large Chapter of the Prajnaparamita Sutra", and the author's thoughts are woven throughout. Thirty-four volumes were spent on annotations for the "Johon" alone, and the rest are abridged translations by the translator, with the addition that if the original had been translated exactly, it would have been ten times longer. It has only been translated into Chinese and has not been passed down anywhere else, and there are no texts in India or Tibet that touch on it. The references cited total over one hundred, ranging from primitive Buddhism to Mahayana Buddhist scriptures and Buddhist literature of the time, and even Indian thought. It covers a wide range of Buddhist issues, but is particularly detailed on the idea of emptiness, the practice of the bodhisattva, and the six paramitas. It has been widely read in China and Japan, and has had a great influence.
