[Born] Around 1460 [Died] 1517. Brussels. An Italian nobleman. He was appointed by the German Emperor Maximilian I as the superintendent of postal services from Vienna to Brussels. At the time, the Netherlands had just become the territory of the Habsburg German Imperial Family, and communication with mainland Austria was important. In 1512, he was made an Imperial Knight, and the Taxis family held a long monopoly on the imperial postal administration even after the 16th century.
