Okurayama

Japanese: 大倉山 - おおくらやま

A small hill in Miyanomori, Nishi-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. One of the old mesas belonging to the Shiribeshi volcanic group, it has an altitude of 307m. In 1931, a ski jump (former Okura Schanze) was built on this hill with financial support from Kihachiro Okura, and after several renovations it was upgraded to a 90m class in 1962. In 1970, a full-scale international ski jump (commonly known as the Okura Schanze) was completed, and it became the main venue for the Sapporo Winter Olympics in 1972. It is one of the world's leading ski jumps, and the only 90m class ski jump in Japan that is in regular use.

北海道札幌市西区宮の森にある小丘。後志（しりべし）火山群に属する古いメーサの一つで，標高307m。1931年この丘に大倉喜八郎が資金援助してスキーのジャンプ台(旧大倉シャンツェ)が建設され，その後幾度かの改修が行われて62年に90m級になった。70年に本格的な国際的ジャンプ台(通称大倉シャンツェ)が完成し，72年の冬季オリンピック札幌大会の主会場となった。世界有数のシャンツェで，国内で常時使われているジャンプ台としては唯一の90m級である。
