Japanese: 大笒 - たいきん

A traditional Korean transverse flute. Modern daesang are about 73-84cm long and are made from thick, hard bamboo called sokkotsu bamboo. Between the mouthpiece and the finger holes there is a membrane hole covered with bamboo paper called qingkong, and the bamboo paper vibrates subtly when air is blown into it, producing a unique tone and changes in dynamics. There are six evenly spaced finger holes, and five holes called chilseongkong near the ends. These holes are for adjusting the tuning and balancing the entire instrument. It is a difficult instrument to play, but semitones can be freely produced by using the fingers, and the range can be expanded by changing the way it is blown.

朝鮮の伝統的な横笛。現在の大笒は全長73～84cmくらいで，太くて肉の厚い双骨竹と呼ぶ固い竹で作る。吹き口と指孔の間に清孔と呼ぶ竹紙を張った膜孔があり，吹き込まれる空気によって竹紙が微妙に振動するため独特の音色と強弱の変化が出る。指孔は等間隔に6個あり，末端に近い部分に七星孔と呼ぶ五つの穴がある。この穴は音律調節と楽器全体の均整をとるためのもの。吹奏の難しい楽器だが，指の使い方で半音も自在に出せるし，吹き方により音域も広がる。
