Great Feast - Taikyou

Japanese: 大饗 - たいきょう
Great Feast - Taikyou
〘Noun〙 (also "daikyo") 1. A grand banquet held in aristocratic society as one of the annual events. Regular events include the Niguu Grand Banquet, the Regent and Minister's Grand Banquet, and the Appointed Minister's Grand Banquet. *Tadanobu Koki - Engi 7th year (907), January 4th, "The Left Minister's Grand Banquet is as usual " * Makura (end of the 10th century) 88 "He came bearing imperial decrees, and sent sweet chestnut envoys to welcome the grand banquet." 2. A grand banquet to entertain distinguished guests. A grand banquet. Also, the food and delicacies served at the banquet. ※Shomonki (around 940): “We welcomed them at Sakai and held a beautiful grand banquet.” [Zhou Li - Shunkan] [Eloquence] (1) The words “Great Banquet” and “Great Imperial Banquet” appear in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki and are read as “Miahe” and “Oomiahe.” Perhaps these were created by applying Chinese characters to the names of banquets that already existed.
(2) The first record of the Ninomiya (Chugu and Togu) Grand Banquet is in the "Ruijukokokushi - 71, Ninomiya Banquet - Tencho 7th Year, January 3rd," which states, "The ministers bowed to the Empress to congratulate her . She was given a robe , and the Crown Prince was also congratulated . The banquet was held as usual." The date was January 2nd.
(3) There are two types of Daiminyo no Taikyo: when a new minister is appointed and when it is held every year on New Year's Day. Daiminyo no Taikyo is held on the day when the appointment ceremony is held, but the date is not fixed. Daiminyo no Taikyo was held on the 4th of the New Year for the Left Minister and on the 5th for the Right Minister, but there was a tendency to hold it only in the year after the new minister was appointed (Kokeshidai-2).
