Born June 25, 1892. Son-in-law of Torasaburo Araki. Became an army surgeon in 1921. Later became an instructor at the Army Medical School and advocated research into germ warfare. After serving as head of the Epidemic Prevention Department of the Kwantung Army, he became head of the Epidemic Prevention and Water Supply Department (Unit 731) of the Kwantung Army in 1940, where he led the development of germ weapons. He was defeated at the age of lieutenant general. He was held responsible for live animal experiments at the Tokyo Trials, but was not prosecuted. Died October 9, 1959. Age 67.
