…Although they were arrested and detained 18 times, they taught that faith is superior to law and political rule, and did not tolerate compromise or submission to the government. In 1887, Miki passed away, and Iburi Izo (1833-1907), a former carpenter, became the head of the sect, and, possessed by a divine gift, issued the oracle and led the sect. In 1888, the headquarters became an affiliated church of the Shinto Headquarters, and during the Sino-Japanese and Russo-Japanese wars, they actively contributed to national policy, and in 1908, they were officially recognized as an independent sect of the Shinto religion. …
