A scholar and man of letters from the Northern Dynasty of China. A native of Wugong (Shaanxi Province). His pen name was Lingzhuo. He first served the Western Wei Dynasty, and was recognized by the Prime Minister Yuwen Tai, who helped him establish the Northern Zhou Dynasty. He opposed the emphasis on technical expression in the Western Wei Dynasty, and wrote an imperial edict in the Northern Zhou Dynasty imitating the style of the Book of Documents. He is considered a pioneer of the classical literature movement led by Han Yu and others in the later Middle Tang Dynasty. He also wrote works such as Treatise on Buddha Nature and Treatise on the Seven Classics.

中国，北朝の学者，文学者。武功 (陝西省) の人。字，令綽。初め西魏に仕え，宰相宇文泰に認められ，その北周の創業を助けた。駢文 (べんぶん) が表現の技巧のみに流れることに反対し，北周の詔勅として『書経』の文体を模倣した文章を書き，のちの中唐の韓愈らの古文運動の先駆とみなされている。ほかに『仏性論』『七経論』などの著がある。
