It is also called the fourth sexually transmitted disease because the pathogen was discovered as the fourth of its kind. An infection caused by chlamydia. One to two weeks after infection, small papules, blisters, and erosions appear on the vulva of both men and women, but they are often overlooked as they are not noticeable. Then, several weeks later, the inguinal lymph nodes swell and adhere to each other, becoming the size of a fist and secreting pus. They develop a high, persistent fever and may develop peritonitis. Treatment involves localized poultices and the administration of sulfa drugs and tetracycline. It is a rare disease in recent years.

性病のうち４番目に病原体が発見されたので第四性病ともいう。クラミジアの感染症。感染して１〜２週間後，男女の外陰部に小丘疹，小水疱(すいほう)，糜爛(びらん)をみるが，自覚症なく見のがすことが多い。次いで数週間後，鼠径リンパ節が腫大・癒着(ゆちゃく)して，こぶし大となり，膿を出す。高い弛張(しちょう)熱を示し，腹膜炎を起こすこともある。治療には局所の罨法(あんぽう)と，サルファ剤，テトラサイクリンなどの投与。近年ではまれな疾患。
