The True Meaning of the Lord of Heaven (English: Tian-zhu shi-yi)

Japanese: 天主実義 - てんしゅじつぎ（英語表記）Tian-zhu shi-yi

A book written by Italian Jesuit missionary Matteo Ricci (Chinese name: Lima Dou). Published in 1604 (the 32nd year of the Wanli era), it is a two-volume book that discusses Christian doctrine for Chinese intellectuals at the end of the Ming Dynasty. It is presented in a format in which a Western Christian scholar answers questions from a Chinese scholar, and begins with God's creation and moves on to salvation through Christ. It is the most excellent Christian book published in China in terms of both writing and content, and had a great influence on the Chinese people. Chu Zhenzhi's "The First Sign of Tianxue" attempts to refute this book.

イエズス会のイタリア人宣教師マテオ・リッチ (中国名，利馬竇) の著書。万暦 32 (1604) 年刊。明末の中国の知識人のためにキリスト教教理を論じた書物で，上下2巻から成る。中国人学者の質問に西洋のキリスト教学者が答えるという体裁をとり，神による創造から論を起して，キリストによる救いに及んでいる。文章，内容とも中国で出版されたキリスト教書のうちで最もすぐれ，中国人に大きな感化を及ぼした。錘振之の『天学初徴』はこの書を論駁しようとしたものである。
