Tadao Ina

He was a treasurer and magistrate in the mid-Edo period. In September 1754, he was appointed hereditary to the position of Kanto District Magistrate. In August 1760, he was also appointed as a treasurer and ginmiyaku (governing official). In August 1764, the shogunate announced the establishment of Masusuke-go on the Nakasendo road to the relevant villages, but this was opposed and an uprising broke out (the Denma Incident). As the rebels tried to advance towards Edo, the shogunate had Ina announce the cessation of the Masusuke-go, halting their advance on Edo. For this achievement, in February 1762, he was promoted to the position of private treasurer and magistrate (also serving as Kanto District Magistrate). 江戸中期の勘定奉行。宝暦4(1754)年9月関東郡代職世襲。同13年8月勘定吟味役兼帯。明和1(1764)年8月,幕府は中山道の増助郷を該当する村々に申し渡したが,これに反対し一揆が起きた(伝馬騒動)。一揆勢は江戸に押し寄せようとしたため,幕府は伊奈をして増助郷中止を申し渡させ,江戸進撃を中止させた。この功により同2年2月,勝手方勘定奉行(関東郡代兼帯)に抜擢。伝馬騒動を敏速に処理したことで知られるが,勘定奉行として明和期の幕府財政に果たした役割も看過できない。<参考文献>山田忠雄「伝馬騒動」(『一揆打毀しの運動構造』)
