Alexander [Islands] - Alexander
An archipelago in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Alaska. It has a glacial topography and many fjords. It consists of about 1,100 islands, the main islands being Chichagof, Baranov, and Prince of Wales. The central city is Sitka. Forestry is practiced here. It was first arrived by Russians in 1741, and later developed by the British and the Americans.
