A book on military strategy from the Edo period. Two volumes in two books. Published in the mid-17th century. It is said to have been written by Matsudaira Nobuoki, but the authorship is unclear. It uses stories of exploits, failures, and experiences of 30 foot soldiers to explain what foot soldiers should be expected to do. Although the purpose of the book is to educate foot soldiers, the text uses colloquial eastern Japanese from the early Edo period, making it a valuable resource for research into modern languages.
