A town in Katori County in northeastern Chiba Prefecture. It straddles the lowlands on the south bank of the Tone River and the Shimousa Plateau. Sasagawa, in the center of the town, was a river port for water transportation on the Tone River in the early modern period. The town produces rice and vegetables, and is also a thriving pig and chicken farm. It also manufactures and processes cotton textiles, soy sauce, and leather bags. 千葉県北東部，香取郡の町。利根川南岸の低地と下総(しもうさ)台地にまたがる。中心の笹川(ささがわ)は近世の利根川水運の河港であった。米，野菜を産し，養豚，養鶏も盛ん。綿織物，醤油，皮革袋物などの製造加工も行う。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。46.25km2。１万5154人（2010）。
