A town in Katori County in northeastern Chiba Prefecture. It straddles the lowlands on the south bank of the Tone River and the Shimousa Plateau. Sasagawa, in the center of the town, was a river port for water transportation on the Tone River in the early modern period. The town produces rice and vegetables, and is also a thriving pig and chicken farm. It also manufactures and processes cotton textiles, soy sauce, and leather bags.
