Izakovo culture

Japanese: イサコボ文化 - イサコボぶんか(英語表記)Izakovo culture
Izakovo culture
A culture from the early Neolithic period in the Baikal-Angara region of Siberia, Russia. It belongs to the 4th millennium BC. A grave from this period was excavated by AP Okladnikov in 1939, and since then, the cultural content of this culture has become clear. The burials were in a supine, extended burial position, with the heads facing east or northeast, which is thought to be related to the direction of sunrise. There are stones arranged on the mound. The pottery buried as grave goods has a round bottom and a net-like pattern pressed into it. The stone tools include partially polished stone axes such as large round chisel axes, stone arrowheads with or without handles, stone spears, various scrapers, and asymmetrical knives. Bone and horn tools include embedded blade tools, and there are two types of embedded blades: microliths and double-sided. Other items discovered include bone needles, bone needle cases made from bird bones, and ornaments.
