False Pregnancy - Sozouninshin

This occurs when a woman approaching menopause or a young woman has an abnormal desire for pregnancy or fears pregnancy and wants to avoid it; she complains of symptoms that occur when she is not actually pregnant, and comes to believe that she is.

It used to be called false pregnancy and was considered a typical example of psychosomatic disorders in the obstetrics and gynecology field, but nowadays, pregnancy test methods have advanced to the point where accurate diagnosis can be made at an early stage of 6-8 weeks, and fetal heart sounds can be confirmed at 8 weeks of pregnancy using an ultrasound phonocardiograph, so phantom pregnancy is already a thing of the past. In other words, if it is confirmed that you are not pregnant, all symptoms will disappear. However, completely separate from this, false pregnancy symptoms can also appear due to ovarian failure, or a false pregnancy state can be caused by taking medication (such as the pill) for treatment.

更年期に近い女性あるいは若い女性が異常と思えるほど妊娠を渇望したり恐れて避けたいと思っているときにみられるもので、実際には妊娠していないのに妊娠時に現れる諸症状を訴え、本人が妊娠を信じるようになっている場合をいう。

　かつては偽(ぎ)妊娠ともよばれ、産婦人科領域における心身症の代表例のように考えられていたが、現在では妊娠判定の検査法が進歩して妊娠6～8週という早期段階に適確な判定ができるようになり、また妊娠8週では超音波心音計によって胎児心音を証明できるため、想像妊娠はすでに過去のものとなっている。すなわち、妊娠していないことが確認されれば、症状はすべて消失する。なお、これとはまったく別に、卵巣機能不全などにより偽妊娠症状を呈したり、治療などのために薬剤（ピルなど）を投与して偽妊娠状態をおこすことがある。
