A town in Sawa County in southern Gunma Prefecture. It occupies the alluvial lowlands between the Tone River and its tributary, the Karasu River. Tamamura, the town in the center, is a typical urban village that developed as a post town on the Nikko Reiheishi Highway. Rice and wheat are grown, and there are also paper, electrical, and steel factories. Tamamura Hachiman Shrine is located here. Area: 25.78 km2 . Population: 37,536 (2010).
