Collection of poems by Soan - Collection of poems by Soan

A collection of short poems from the early modern period. One volume. A collection of medieval short poems that comes after "Kanginshu" (which has 37 common poems) and slightly precedes the Ryutatsubushi short poems. There are various theories about who should have been the editor, Muneakira, but it is unclear. According to the preface and colophon, the clean copy was written by Koga Yuan, also known as Koga Atsumichi (1565-1624). It was probably compiled during the Keicho era (1596-1615), which was the transitional period between medieval and early modern short poems. It contains 220 poems. Most of the poems are short poems of two or four lines, and the majority are love songs with lines such as "Come and sleep in my dreams/And I will never let my love affairs stand," and there are also some early modern short poems in the 7-7-7-5 style with lines such as "Before I get wet, I despise the dew/But after I get wet, that's fine," making this a valuable resource for the study of popular song history, even though it is a solitary volume. Introduced by Sasano Ken in 1931 (Showa 6), the original had no title and was originally called "Collection of Short Poems from the Muromachi Period."
