An arthropod (illustration) of the family Scarabaeidae in the class Arachnidae. It is small, measuring 3-3.5cm in length, and is stocky compared to other Japanese spotted scorpions, with thicker palps and body and a shorter tail. Its body color ranges from yellow-red to reddish brown. It is widely distributed in Australia, Polynesia, and South Asia, but in Japan it is only found on the Yaeyama Islands and Miyako Islands.
