Qian Du - Sento (English spelling)

Japanese: 銭杜 - せんと（英語表記）Qián Dù

A Chinese painter of the late Qing dynasty, he is said to have been born and died between 1763 and 1844. His childhood name was Er, and his literary name was Shumei. His pen names were Pinepot, Hugong, and Manjikoji. He was born into a wealthy family in Qiantang (Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province), and loved calligraphy and painting. He studied landscape painting in the Song and Yuan dynasties, and although his refined style is too delicate and lacks power, he is known as a painter who represents the distinctive features of literati painting in the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods (1796-1850). His landscapes, which he uses color, also have an elegant charm. His works include Memories of Pinepot Painting, Extravagant Paintings of Pinepot, and Preserved Poems of Pinepot.

中国，清代後期の画家，生没年は1763‐1844年とする説がある。幼名は楡。字は叔美。号は松壺，壺公，卍居士（まんじこじ）。銭塘（せんとう）(浙江省杭州)の裕福な家柄に生まれ，書画を愛好した。宋･元の山水画を学び，洗練された画風は纎細すぎて迫力に欠けるが，嘉慶･道光期(1796‐1850)の文人画の特色を代表する画家として知られる。色彩を用いた山水にも瀟洒（しようしや）な趣がある。著に《松壺画憶》《松壺画贅（がぜい）》《松壺詩存》がある。
