Jeongok-ri Archaeological Site (English name) Jon'gok-ri

Japanese: 全谷里遺跡 - ぜんこくりいせき（英語表記）Jon'gok-ri

A Paleolithic site in Jeongok-ri, Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It was discovered by American soldiers in 1978. Surveys conducted from 1979 to 1980 revealed that stone tools were found in five separate areas on hills about 60m above sea level on both sides of the Hantan River. The strata containing the stone tools are divided into three layers: brown clay, reddish-brown clay, and yellowish-brown clay. The stone tools discovered include various bifacial core tools, cleavers, choppers, chopping tools, and polygonal spheres, and are mostly made of quartz and quartzite. It has attracted attention as the discovery of West Eurasian-style stone tools in East Asia.

韓国京畿道漣川郡全谷里にある旧石器時代の遺跡。 1978年，アメリカ軍人によって発見された。 79年から 80年までの調査によると，石器は漢灘江両岸の標高 60mぐらいの丘陵上から，5地区に分れて発見される。石器を包含する地層は褐色粘土層，赤褐色粘土層，黄褐色粘土層の3層に分れる。発見された石器には各種の両面石核石器，クリーバー，チョッパー，チョッピング・トゥール，多角面円球などがあり，ほとんど石英と石英岩でつくられている。東アジアにおける西ユーラシア風の石器の出土として注目されている。
