Acteon - Acteon

...Japan's first modern scientific map, created by the Ino Survey Team, led by Ino Tadataka, in 1800-16 (Kansei 12-Bunka 13), surveying the whole of Japan as a shogunate project. Tadataka died in the middle of compiling the survey results but before the completion of the map of the whole country. After his death, the map was created under the supervision of Takahashi Kageyasu and completed in 1821 (Bunsei 4). It consists of a large map (1 ri is expressed in 3 sun 6 bu, scale 1/36,000, 214 sheets), a medium map (1 ri is expressed in 6 bu, scale 1/216,000, 8 sheets), and a small map (1 ri is expressed in 3 bu, scale 1/432,000, 3 sheets), all of which are hand-drawn colored maps, and are collectively known as the "Complete Survey Map of the Great Japanese Coastline (Complete Survey Map of the Great Japanese Coastline)." ...

…伊能忠敬を中心とする伊能(測量)隊が，1800‐16年(寛政12‐文化13)に，幕府の事業として日本全国を測量して作成した日本で最初の近代科学的地図。忠敬は測量成果の集大成の途中，全国図完成前に死去したが，彼の死後は高橋景保の監督下で作成され，1821年(文政4)に完成した。大図(1里を3寸6分で表現し，縮尺にして1/3万6000,214枚)，中図(1里を6分，縮尺1/21万6000,8枚)，小図(1里を3分，縮尺1/43万2000,3枚)からなり，すべて手書きの彩色地図で，〈大日本沿海実測全図(実測輿地全図)〉と総称される。…
