The capital of Ohio, USA. It is located on the east bank of the Scioto River, almost in the center of Ohio. Founded in 1812, it is the political, industrial, and educational center of the state. Between 1812 and 1815, the population was less than 700, but it developed due to the extension of the national highway and the opening of the Ohio-Erie Canal. Today, the city is involved in the manufacture of aircraft, auto parts, electrical appliances, shoes, and food products. It is well-equipped with transportation facilities such as highways, railways, and airports, and is also a retail center. There is an air force base. Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Ohio State University (established in 1870), Otterbein College, and Battelle Memorial Institute, a well-known think tank, are also located in the city.
