National Economic Committee (English: National Economic Committee)
One of the central agencies for the economic construction of the Chinese Nationalist Government in the 1930s. In June 1931, the organizational regulations were published and it was established in October. Its members included Chiang Kai-shek, Soong Tzu-wen, the heads of the various government construction departments, Kuomintang elders, and Shanghai bankers and businessmen. It was an advisory body that deliberated on the government's construction plans while receiving technical assistance from the League of Nations. In September 1933, it received a cotton and wheat loan from the United States as a financial source and was reorganized into a construction implementation agency in charge of specific construction activities such as highway construction, water conservancy construction, cotton industry control, and silk improvement.
