? - 301 BCE King of the Warring States period of Qi in China. Reigned 319-301 BC. Son of King Wei. Named Hekikyo. In the year of his accession to the throne, when Wei fought against Han and Zhao, he waited until Wei was exhausted and attacked them, subjugating the Sanjin region. He then took advantage of the internal strife in Yan to capture its capital. As a result, Qi's power became the largest among the eastern countries, and its capital, Linzi, flourished. The king also built a mansion near Jimen (the gate of Ji) on the west side of the city and gave preferential treatment to scholars, so that scholars such as Zou Yan, Chunyu Zheng, and Tian Bian gathered there, becoming the center of culture and learning, and forming the so-called Jixia learning.
