A former town in Sera County, central Hiroshima Prefecture. It occupies part of the Kibi Plateau, with the main settlement being Oguni. Rice is the main agricultural industry, and they also grow vegetables, raise Japanese beef and dairy cows, and produce a lot of matsutake mushrooms. 広島県中部，世羅郡の旧町。吉備(きび)高原の一部を占め，中心集落は小国(おぐに)。米作中心の農業が主で，野菜栽培，和牛・乳牛の飼育を行い，マツタケの産も多い。2004年10月甲山町と世羅町へ編入。69.14km2。4146人（2003）。
