Miyagi

Japanese: 宮城 - みやぎ

In the central-eastern part of Gunma Prefecture, this former village area is in the northeastern part of Maebashi City. It spreads from the southern slope of Mount Akagi onto the alluvial plateau. It was established as a village in 1889, and was incorporated into Maebashi City in 2004. Farmland is mainly on the southern plateau, where rice, sericulture, dairy farming, etc. are practiced. Akagi Shrine in Miyosawa, located on the middle slope, is the head shrine of Akagi Shrines scattered throughout the area. Akagi Onsen and Chuji Onsen are nearby, and are the base for climbing Mount Akagi from the south side.

群馬県中東部，前橋市北東部の旧村域。赤城山の南斜面から洪積台地に広がる。1889年村制。2004年前橋市に編入。農地は南部の台地を主とし，米作，養蚕，酪農などが行なわれる。中腹にある三夜沢（みよさわ）の赤城神社は各地に散在する赤城神社の総本社。近くに赤城温泉，忠治温泉があり，南面からの赤城山登山の基地。
