During the Kan'ei period (1624-1644), he performed puppet plays using sermons and puppets in the grounds of Ikutama Shrine in Osaka. In the "Sansho Tayu" published in 1636, he appears as Tenkaichi Setsuyo Yoshiro. He is also said to have been from Ise (Mie Prefecture).
