Battle of Cannae - Battle of Cannae
In 216 B.C., during the Second Punic War, Hannibal surrounded and annihilated a Roman army of 54,000 with 45,000 Carthaginian troops. It is famous in military history as one of the greatest battles of annihilation. Cannae was a small village in the Apulia region of southern Italy.
