Skipper butterfly - Skipper butterfly

Japanese:
Skipper butterfly - Skipper butterfly
A general term for insects belonging to the family Hesperiidae of the order Lepidoptera. There are over 3,000 known species in the world, with over 1,800 known species in South America. Thirty-four species are found in Japan, including the common skipper, the giant skipper (illustration), the blue skipper (illustration), the narrow skipper, the red skipper, and the common skipper (illustration). The name skipper comes from their restless, restless flying style. Adults have a wingspan of 1.7 to 8 cm, and are generally characterized by a thick and long body, narrow wings, compound eyes that are not close to each other, and wing veins that are all aligned and do not merge with each other. Some, such as the male of the thorny skipper Euschemon rafflesia that lives in northeastern Australia, have spines on their hind wings that are characteristic of moths.
