Japanese: 美作[町] - みまさか

A former town in Aida County, eastern Okayama Prefecture. The main settlement, Rinno, is in the eastern Tsuyama Basin, and developed as a river port on the Yoshii River, known as Sakushu Kurashiki, and a commercial town. It is served by the Kishin Line and the Chugoku Expressway, and is a commercial and industrial center. Vegetables and fruit are grown, and dairy cows are raised. Yugo Hot Springs is located here. In March 2005, it was incorporated as a city by merging with Katsuta Town in Katsuta County, Ohara Town, Sakuto Town, Aida Town, and Higashiawakura Village in Aida County to form Mimasaka City. Area: 86.97 ^km2 . Population: 13,121 (2003).

岡山県東部，英田(あいだ)郡の旧町。主集落林野は津山盆地東部にあり作州倉敷と呼ばれた吉井川舟運の河港，商業町として発達，姫新(きしん)線，中国自動車道が通じ商工業の中心をなす。野菜・果樹栽培，乳牛飼育を営む。湯郷(ゆのごう)温泉がある。2005年３月勝田郡勝田町，英田郡大原町，作東町，英田町，東粟倉村と合併し市制，美作市となる。86.97km²。１万3121人（2003）。
