A snail shell of the Muricidae family shaped like a fishbone. The shell is egg-cone shaped like a Muricidae shell, with a long water tube, and is 17 cm high, 5 cm wide excluding the spines, and 10 cm including the spines. The spiral spire has nine layers, and the surface of each layer is light brown with spiral ribs and longitudinal ribs, giving it a cloth-like texture. In particular, thick and strong longitudinal ribs are formed every 120 degrees of the shell. When viewed from above, this spiral layer is divided into thirds in a spiral shape, and long spines extend diagonally upwards on the ribs, with the shoulder ones being particularly strong and long.

魚の骨のような形をしたアクキガイ科の巻貝。殻はアクキガイに似て卵円錐形で水管嘴（すいかんし）が長くのびており，殻の高さ17cm，とげを除いた幅5cm，とげを含めると10cm。螺塔（らとう）は9層あり，各層の表面は淡褐色で螺肋（らろく）と縦肋とがあって布目状である。とくに殻が120度巻くごとに太く強い縦肋ができる。この螺層を上から見ると螺旋状に三分されるが，その肋の上に長いとげが斜め上方に出ており，肩のはとくに強く長い。
