Yun Baek Nam

...This was a kind of heroic play, a political novel adapted for the stage. From then on, the 1900s were dominated by new-school drama, with representative new-school theater companies including the Innovation Troupe led by Im Seong-gu (1887-1921), the Munsu-seong Troupe led by Yun Baek-nam (1888-1954) and Jo Il-ji (1863-1944), the Only Troupe led by Yi Ki-se (1889-1945), and the Art Star Troupe led by Yun Baek-nam, Yi Beom-gu, and Yi Ki-se. The process by which new-school theater became popular with audiences, starting with political drama, passing through military drama and detective drama, and then moving on to family tragedies and tragic love stories set in the entertainment world, was in line with the development of new-school theater in Japan.
