Joruri. Sewamono. Three volumes. Written by Chikamatsu Monzaemon. First performed at the Takemotoza Theater in Osaka in 1715. It is a dramatization of the double suicide that took place in the grounds of Ikutama Shrine between Kaheiji, the son of Gohei Hitotsuya, a tea bowl merchant in Osaka, and Osagato, a prostitute from Kashiwaya in Fushimizakacho.
