Located in Seokjang-ri, Janggi-myeon, Gongju-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea, this is one of the most representative Paleolithic sites discovered in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. Since its discovery in 1964, it has been excavated frequently. It is located on a river terrace at an altitude of about 13 to 17 meters on the right bank of the middle reaches of the Geum River. More than 10 layers containing artifacts have been found, which have been broadly divided into three cultural layers, the early, middle, and late periods, and each period is compared with the chronology and techniques of the early, middle, and late Paleolithic cultures in Europe. There is a wide variety of stone tools, including choppers, chopping tools, hand axes, carving tools, side scrapers, end scrapers, projecting points, and microliths, as well as stone tool-making tools such as stone hammers.
