A type of igneous deposit. Sometimes simply called a magmatic deposit. A deposit formed when useful minerals crystallize and concentrate from magma. Deposits formed by magma with a different composition from normal magma include sulfide mineral deposits (nickel, platinum group elements), carbonatite (rare earth elements), and certain iron deposits (magnetite, hematite, apatite). The region centered on Sudbury in Canada is the world's largest nickel ore producing area. Deposits formed by normal magma include titanium deposits and chromium deposits.
