Rice - Eitou

... refers to the seeds of rice. Harvested rice is covered with the husk, and this is called "husk (rice grain)." In Japan, rice is often packaged, collected, and stored in the form of brown rice with the husk removed, but recently in some places, the rice has been collected and stored loose. In other countries, rice is collected and stored in the form of brown rice. Brown rice is passed through a rice polishing machine to remove the bran layer and germ, resulting in polished rice (white rice). Rice, along with wheat, is one of the most important foods for humankind, but while wheat is grown in cool, relatively dry areas such as the Soviet Union and the United States, rice is grown in hot, water-rich areas such as Japan and southern Asia.
