A private railway company with lines stretching from western Tokyo to Saitama Prefecture. It was formerly known as Musashino Railway, which was established in 1912. It merged with Tamako Railway in 1940, and renamed Seibu Agricultural Railway in 1945 after merging with the former Seibu Railway and Shokuryo Masuhan, and changed its name to Seibu Railway in 1946. It merged with Nippon Chikusan, Seibu Shokuryo Kogyo in 1951, Tokorozawa Flour Mill, Asahi Shokuryo Kogyo in 1952, Kowa Real Estate, and Nihon Bunka Sangyo Kōgyo in 1958, and Toshimaen in 1963. In 1956, it established Prince Hotels (a wholly owned subsidiary of Kokudo Keikaku in 1985 (renamed Kokudo in 1992)) as a hotel management company. In 2004, false statements in its securities report were discovered, and the company was delisted. In February 2006, Prince Hotels became a wholly owned subsidiary of the newly established Prince Hotels when the latter absorbed its parent company, Kokudo. In the same month, Prince Hotels established the holding company Seibu Holdings. In March 2006, Seibu Real Estate, Seibu Construction, Seibu Transport, Seibu Bus, Izuhakone Railway, Ohmi Railway, and others became direct subsidiaries of Seibu Holdings. The lines are Ikebukuro Line (Ikebukuro-Agano), Shinjuku Line (Seibu Shinjuku-Honkawagoe), Seibu Chichibu Line, Seibuen Line, Kokubunji Line, Tamako Line, Tamagawa Line, Haijima Line, Toshima Line, Sayama Line, Yamaguchi Line, and Seibu Yurakucho Line. At Ikebukuro Station on the Ikebukuro Line and Seibu Yurakucho Line, the line connects with the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line, and via the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line, the Tokyu Corporation Toyoko Line and Yokohama Minatomirai Line.
