Growing point

Meristems at the tips of roots and stems of higher plants. In higher plants, the locations of cell division are limited to the growing point and cambium. Cell division occurs actively at the growing point, while cell elongation and differentiation occur a short distance away. Growing points are also found in adventitious buds and roots.
