Japanese: 清田儋叟 - せいたたんそう

1719-1785 A Confucian scholar in the mid-Edo period.
Born in the fourth year of the Kyoho era. The third son of Ito Ryushu. His elder brother Ito Kinri was known for his studies in classical Japanese, his second brother Emura Hokkai for his poetry, and Danso for his literature. He took his father's real surname of Kiyota and became a Confucian scholar in the Fukui domain of Echizen. He died on March 23rd in the fifth year of the Tenmei era. He was 67 years old. He was from Kyoto. His given name was Aya. His pen names were Genen and Kiminishiki. He was commonly known as Bunko and Bunpei. His other pen names were Kujakuro. His works include "Kujakuro Bunshu."

享保(きょうほう)4年生まれ。伊藤竜洲(りゅうしゅう)の3男。長兄伊藤錦里は経学,次兄江村北海は詩,儋叟は文をもって知られた。父の本姓清田をつぎ,越前(えちぜん)福井藩儒となる。天明5年3月23日死去。67歳。京都出身。名は絢。字(あざな)は元琰,君錦。通称は文興,文平。別号に孔雀楼(くじゃくろう)。著作に「孔雀楼文集」など。
【格言など】嫉(しつ)・妬(と)・媢(ぼう)の三字,倶(とも)に女に従う。然れども婦人の妬(ねた)むは,男子の最よく妬むにしかず(「孔雀楼筆記」)
