Official History

Japanese: 正史 - せいし

Of all the historical books of China throughout history, this is written in the form of annals and is recognized as the most authentic. It is the opposite of chronological histories, miscellaneous histories, and trivial histories. From the Tang dynasty onwards, the official histories of previous dynasties were compiled by imperial decree. To date, there are 25 histories. There were 17 histories in the Song dynasty, 21 in the Ming dynasty, and 24 in the Qing dynasty, and the Republic of China added the New Yuan History, bringing the total to 25. In addition, there is a Draft History of the Qing dynasty, which is not listed among the official histories. Currently, the People's Republic of China is working on compiling the history of the Qing dynasty as a national project. Below is a list of the official histories of the past dynasties. 1.
