…(3) Biedres irises (those without hair-like projections on the outer petals) (a) Louisiana irises: Five species, including copper iris (English name: copper iris), native to the Mississippi River basin in America, as well as their natural hybrids and numerous horticultural varieties, come in a wide variety of colors, and resemble Japanese iris and Japanese iris. (b) Siberian irises: Consists of I. sibirica L. and I. sanguinea Donn., both native to Europe, and hybrids of these two species. By the early 1900s, there were about 150 varieties, and since then, flower shapes have been significantly improved, and varieties with colors such as pink and yellow, which were not previously available, have been cultivated in addition to blue-purple and white, and are widely planted in gardens in the UK and the US. Other species include the California iris, which consists of 11 species and their hybrids found in the foothills of the Pacific coast of America, and the Spuria iris, which consists of 16 species and their hybrids found in Europe, Asia Minor, and Central Asia.
