A type of price index calculated based on the cost of living for each household. It is an index that shows the fluctuations in the expenses necessary to live a certain standard life, and usually calculates five indices for food, utilities, clothing, housing, and miscellaneous expenses. 〘名〙 各家庭の生計費をもとにして算出した一種の物価指数。一定の標準の生活を営むために必要な費用の変動を示す指数で、ふつう、食費、光熱費、被服費、住居費、雑費の五指数を計算する。これと貨幣賃金とを比べれば、その時の生活状態がわかる。
