Ushibori [town] - Ushibori
An old town in Namegata County in the southeastern part of Ibaraki Prefecture. The main settlement was at the outlet of Lake Kasumigaura, and it prospered through water transportation. It is a producer of early-season rice. It belongs to Suigo-Tsukuba Quasi-National Park, and there are excellent views of Lake Kasumigaura and Mount Tsukuba from the plateau behind the city. On April 1, 2001, it merged with Itako Town to become a city. 18.79 km2 . 6,103 people (2000).
