Aoyama [town] - Aoyama
A former town in Naga District, Mie Prefecture. 80% of the town is made up of forests belonging to the Nunobiki Mountains, producing timber and lumbering. The central settlement, Ao, is located along the Hase Highway (National Route 165), and is served by the Kintetsu Osaka Line. Aoyama Pass is located in the east. In November 2004, the town merged with Ueno City, Iga Town, Ayama Town, Oyamada Village, and Shimagahara Village in Ayama District to become a city, Iga City. 109.00 km2 . Population: 11,875 (2003).

三重県名賀郡の旧町。布引山地に属する山林が町域の80%を占め,木材を産し,製材が盛ん。中心集落阿保(あお)は初瀬(はせ)街道(国道165号線)に沿い,近鉄大阪線が通じる。東部に青山峠がある。2004年11月上野市,阿山郡伊賀町,阿山町,大山田村,島ヶ原村と合併し市制,伊賀市となる。109.00km2。1万1875人(2003)。
