Dingyue Mountains - Hinoto Dakesanchi

A mountain range that stretches along the border between Akita and Yamagata prefectures. It borders the Kamuro mountain range at Ogachi Pass in the east, and continues to Mount Chokai in the west. It is made up of tuff, hard shale, and andesite. It includes mountains such as Mount Chokai, Mount Omori, and Mount Gangara, as well as the main peak, Mount Chokai (1,146 meters). The area has many sharp topography caused by erosion, and was once the largest hunting ground for the Chokai Matagi hunters.

秋田・山形県境に連なる山地。東は雄勝(おがち)峠で神室(かむろ)山地と接し、西は鳥海(ちょうかい)山へ続く。凝灰岩、硬質頁(けつ)岩、安山岩などからなる。主峰の丁岳(1146メートル)をはじめ、大森山、雁唐(がんから)山などの山々が連なる。一帯は侵食による鋭い地形が多く、かつては鳥海マタギの最大の猟場であった。
