Aoya [town] - Aoya

Japanese: 青谷[町] - あおや

A former town in Keta County, central Tottori Prefecture. Located in the Katsube River and Hiki River basins, the main settlement of Aoya developed as a valley settlement with the two river valleys as its hinterland, and during the feudal period it was a post town on the San'in Road. The San'in Main Line runs through the town. Known as a producer of Inshu washi paper, Natsudomari is a fishing village for female divers. There is a beach. In November 2004, it was incorporated into Tottori City along with Kokufu Town and Fukube Village in Iwami County, Kawara Town, Mochigase Town, and Saji Village in Yazu County, and Keta Town and Shikano Town in Keta County. 67.92 ^km2 . Population 8,252 (2003).
