Mr. Suyama

Japanese: 陶山氏 - すやまうじ
Mr. Suyama
A medieval local lord from Suyama Village, Oda County, Bitchu Province (present-day Kasaoka City, Okayama Prefecture). He seems to have become powerful by bringing Kasaoka Bay under his control. At the end of the Kamakura period, the head of the Hojo clan held the position of Bitchu Shugo, so the samurai of Bitchu were tightly connected to the Hojo clan. Among the 400 samurai on the Rokuhara side who were killed by Tandai Hojo Nakatoki, who committed suicide at Banba Rengeji Temple in Omi Province (present-day Maibara Town, Sakata County, Shiga Prefecture) while trying to escape Kyoto and run east, are Suyama Jiro Kiyonao, Bitchu no Kami Kiyofusa, and 20 other members of the Suyama clan.
