King of Denmark. Reigned from 985 to 1014. Around 985, he rebelled against his father, Harald Blåtand (?-985), and seized the throne. From 994 onwards, he made repeated campaigns in England and collected large amounts of Dane geld from his father. In 1000, he defeated King Olav I of Norway and took control of southern Norway. In 1013, he dethroned King Æthelred II of England and ascended to the throne, but died suddenly on February 3, the following year.

デンマーク王。在位985ころ‐1014年。985年ころ，父のハーラル青歯王Harald Blåtand(？‐985)に対して反乱を起こし，王位を奪った。994年以降約20年間にたびたびイングランド遠征を行い，デーン･ゲルトを多額に徴収した。1000年にはノルウェー王オーラブ1世を破り，ノルウェー南部を支配下に置いた。13年イングランド王エセルレッド2世を追放し王位に就いたが，翌年2月3日に急死した。
